Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Al-Nahrain University (Prof. Dr. Anees Khalil Nael), the College of Medicine held an outstanding scientific symposium in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians London Iraq Network, represented by the Head of the Scientific Section of the Network, Prof. Dr. Amal Al-Marayati, entitled:

"Pulmonary Embolism: From Diagnosis to Treatment – A Comprehensive Approach."

The symposium took place at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2025, in the Al-Ma’rifa Hall at the college. It was attended by the Dean of the College, a number of faculty members from the Internal Medicine Department, and several students. The symposium featured two keynote lectures delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Rafid Basheer Al-Tawil and Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Abdul-Hameed, who shed light on the latest scientific advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary embolism, due to the disease's prevalence and significance in medical practice. The first lecture focused on clinical methods and modern diagnostic tools, while the second highlighted the most recent effective therapeutic approaches. The symposium concluded with several important recommendations, most notably the necessity of adopting updated, systematic international protocols for the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of pulmonary embolism.

The symposium targeted a broad spectrum of the medical community, including undergraduate students, board trainees, professors, specialists, and academics with an interest in this field.
