A course was held in the Department of Human Anatomy on histological sectioning: from theory to practical application in the histology laboratories.

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Anis Khalil Nail, the Department of Anatomy organized a training course entitled:

Fundamental of Histological Preparation from Theory to Practice

This specialized laboratory course aimed to train participants in the essential skills of preparing histological sections used in medical diagnosis and scientific research. The theoretical component provided a comprehensive explanation of the stages of tissue processing, beginning with sample collection and fixation, handling samples containing bone by removing calcium salts, followed by dehydration, and concluding with wax embedding. The program also included practical demonstrations on the use of different types of microtomes for tissue sectioning, as well as techniques for staining tissues with H&E and other special stains. The course was distinguished by an extensive hands-on component conducted in the Histology and Embryology Laboratories, where participants practiced all steps under the direct supervision of specialized faculty members.
