Surgical removal of a dermoid cyst from the lumbar spinal canal.
A 54-year-old patient suffering from lower limb weakness and urinary retention due to compression of the lumbar nerves caused by an expanding dermoid cyst extending from the L2 vertebra to the S2 vertebra underwent surgery. The procedure involved opening the lumbar vertebrae and completely excising the cyst along with its contents while ensuring the preservation of nerve integrity. The patient showed significant improvement immediately after the surgery and was discharged in excellent health after a few days, thanks to Allah.
