The Master's Thesis Discussion of Mohammad Abdulhameed Abdulkhaliq in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry/Medical Biochemistry
**"Assessment of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) Total Level in Iraqi Workers at Basra Oil Company (Rumella and West Qurna Fields) and Their Correlation with Glutathione (GSH), 5-Nucleotidase (5-NT) and Liver Function."**
The study aimed to investigate the impact of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons on liver diseases in the serum of workers at Basra Oil Company (Rumella and West Qurna Fields).
The results revealed a significant difference in the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (p=0.0001) between the Rumella and West Qurna groups. Liver function test levels did not differ significantly between the Rumella and West Qurna groups but differed significantly from the city center group (P=0.0001). While there was no significant difference in 5-Nucleotidase levels between the Rumella and West Qurna groups, a significant difference (P=0.001) was observed between these two groups and the city center group. The city center group had more Glutathione than the Rumella and West Qurna groups, with a significant difference (P=0.0001).
