The College of Medicine holds a workshop titled

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Professor Dr. Anis Khalil Nail, and as part of the Continuing Education Unit’s activities, a workshop titled "Biosafety and Biosecurity in the Laboratory" was held in the Microbiology Department on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 1-2, 2024. The workshop was presented by the faculty members:

1. Professor Arwa Majeed Abdullah

2. Professor Haider Sabah Kadhim

3. Assistant Professor Mohammed Razzaq Ali

The workshop was attended by a group of faculty members and postgraduate students. It addressed key topics such as understanding biosafety and biosecurity, risk assessment, recognizing the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE), and learning how to handle it properly. Additionally, the workshop covered safe methods of medical waste disposal, as well as sterilization and disinfection techniques. Discussions included biosafety procedures in Iraqi universities and hospitals.

This workshop reflects the College of Medicine’s commitment to enhancing knowledge among researchers and academics on the best practices for handling biological materials and agents, ultimately aiming to reduce risks to both individuals and the broader community.
