The joint scientific conference of the Diabetes and Endocrine Societies, the Cardiology Society, and the Nephrology Society, which was recently held in Baghdad.
The Head of the Internal Medicine Department, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Shakir Khudair, and Assistant Professor Dr. Rafid Basheer, a member of the teaching staff, participated in the joint scientific conference of the Diabetes and Endocrine Societies, the Cardiology Society, and the Nephrology Society, which was recently held in Baghdad. Professor Dr. Mahmoud Shakir delivered two lectures: the first on the latest advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic fatty liver disease, and the second on secondary hypertension caused by increased aldosterone from the adrenal gland.
Professor Dr. Mahmoud Shakir also took part in a panel discussion on the role of SGLT2 inhibitors in the treatment of diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease. Additionally, Assistant Professor Dr. Rafid Basheer delivered a lecture on the major effects and complications of chronic diabetes on coronary arteries, as well as the latest therapeutic approaches for atherosclerosis in diabetic patients.
