A Seminar at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine on the Risks of Intellectual Extremism and the Role of Students in Promoting Community Security

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University (Prof. Anees Khalil Nail), the University Psychological Counseling Unit organized an awareness seminar within the framework of the National Security Strategy “Iraq First.” The seminar was delivered on 26 November 2025 by the Head of the University Psychological Counseling Unit, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Nasser Mohsen, and was titled:

“The Risks of Intellectual Extremism on Community Security.”

The seminar addressed the concept of extremism, its types, and the factors that lead to it. It also discussed ways to confront this phenomenon and to mitigate its impacts and consequences on society.

The seminar emphasized the importance of the role played by intellectuals and students in strengthening community security by adopting sound thinking, promoting the values of tolerance, forgiveness, and acceptance of others, and avoiding all forms of extremism.
