Visit of a Delegation from the Atomic Energy Commission and a Chinese Company to the College of Medicine

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, a high-level delegation from the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, accompanied by a Chinese delegation from the Chinese Atomic Energy Company, visited the College of Medicine. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Hamed Al-Bahadli, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Atomic Energy Affairs, as well as Dr. Munir Kazem Mohsen, Deputy Chairman of the Commission, along with directors of various departments within the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission. The visit was coordinated with the Office Director of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who also serves as Chairman of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission.

The delegation was received by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Anis Khalil Nael, the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Head of the Office Affairs Division, and Engineer Mohammed Mohsen from the same division.

During the visit, the Chinese delegation provided an overview of the types of cyclotron devices, particularly those suitable for the needs of the Iraqi market. Additionally, two faculty members from the College delivered lectures: Asst. Prof. Dr. Lama Kareem Mohammed, who presented on the journey of scientific and academic advancement at the College of Medicine, University of Al-Nahrain, including its achievement of both international and national accreditation; and Lect. Dr. Haneen Hussein Sahib, who discussed the applications of the PET scan device and its expected medical and health benefits. The meeting concluded with an agreement to strengthen cooperation between the College of Medicine and the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission in various academic and research fields, in order to provide the best services in the public interest.
