*A Scientific Lecture at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine on Blood Biochemistry and Its Clinical Significance*
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Anis Khalil Nail, the Media and Government Communications Division at the college held a scientific lecture on 23 November 2025 entitled:
“Blood Biochemistry”
The lecture was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Fatima Ghazi Talab, PhD in Clinical Biochemistry, in Hall No. (1) of the main lecture halls of the college. The event was attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and students.
The lecture covered the molecular composition of blood plasma and cellular elements, as well as the biochemical reactions involved—such as oxygen binding to hemoglobin, the conversion of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate, and their roles in maintaining ionic balance and pH levels.
It also highlighted the clinical significance of these reactions through commonly used laboratory tests such as CBC, HbA1c, and measurements of urea and creatinine, which serve as important indicators of blood, kidney, and liver function.
