Master’s Thesis Discussion on Biomarkers of Hypertension
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry discussed the master’s thesis of student Zinah Yousif Jameel, entitled:
“Study the Association of Serum Levels of Sirtuin7, 8-Isoprostane, and Total Lipid Peroxidation MDA in Essential Hypertensive Patients.”
The aim of the study was to evaluate Sirtuin 7 along with 8-Isoprostane and MDA, as these oxidative stress biomarkers are closely associated with hypertension in newly diagnosed Iraqi patients. The study also explored their relationship with Body Mass Index (BMI), smoking, and lipid levels. The findings highlighted the potential of Sirtuin 7 in predicting and enabling the early detection of hypertension.
