Professors of Al-Nahrain College of Medicine discuss blood diseases and new development of their treatment ……. Media Unit
Under the auspices of the Deanship of the College of Medicine/ Al-Nahrain University, the Internal Medicine Branch/Hematology Division held a scientific symposium, which was about hemorrhagic diseases resulting from the lack of or impairment of platelets, in collaboration and with the participation of the Scientific Office of the company "AMGEN"
The seminar included several axes in which Assist. Professor Dr. Subh Salim Al-Mudalal, the teaching staff member at AL-Nahrain College of Medicine/ Pathology Branch, dealt with the role of platelets and their importance in the health status of human beings with exposing and analyzing the causes leading to thrombocytopenia (deficiency of platelets) and morbidity.
Professor Dr. Abbas Hashim AbdulSalam, a specialist at Al- Yarmouk Teaching Hospital, Participated with a scientific lecture, addressing the diagnostic process for such diseases in addition to the developments available in this area through research and recent studies.
A specialist in pediatrics at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Sawsan Al-Haidari, also participated in the seminar by presenting a lecture about the symptoms of these communicable diseases in children and methods of their diagnosis in addition to the available treatments.
The Consultant Dr. Ibrahim Khalil at Al-Imamain Al-Kathimain (PBUT) Medical City, also presented a lecture about explaining the clinical signs and ways of getting such diseases in adults, revealing the case of disease called Immune thrombocytopenia.
The symposium was concluded with a lecture given by Assistant Professor Dr. Waseem Fathil Al-Tamimi, a specialist at Internal Medicine Branch/Al-Nahrain College of Medicine, demonstrating the accompanying health problems with such diseases in addition to the side effects of the treatments and its importance for Immune thrombocytopenia referring to the scientific developments in using new biological drugs that aims to reduce the complications recorded from the use of previous drug or of splenectomy as an advanced therapeutic step for the cases with no response.
Open discussion between doctors and professors was started to gain the important and useful results serving human health and safety. // Media unit.
