Pathology and Forensic Medicine Branch at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine holds a scientific symposium ntitled "Translation of Disciplines" in the Selected East Mediterranean Universities and Research Institute.

Under the auspices of the Dean of Al-Nahrain College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Alaa Ghani Hussein, Pathology and Forensic Medicine Branches held a scientific seminar entitled "Translation of disciplines in the Elected East Mediterranean Universities and Research Institute" and with the presence of professors and students of these two specialties on Wednesday, 04/01/2015.

At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Dr. Ban Abbas AbdulMajeed presented a detailed explanation about translation of knowledge as a dynamic Sustainable process including the production, distribution, and exchanging of knowledge and the methods of its correct moral application to improve health, to provide effective health services, and to consolidate health care system.

The translation of knowledge in the today world is considered as the most important solutions to grade up the health of community, to update the health care quality, and to accelerate transformation of the scientific research to application, and to bridge the gap between knowledge and application.

The last World economic crisis has led to motivate all countries to care about economic feasibility in spending fields including what is related to scientific research where interesting in translation of Knowlefge increases as a major element in health care, the use of scientific research in better way in putting criteria and clinical and social instructions, as well as making decisions depending on evidence for serving public welfare. Depending on what has just mentioned and for the importance of this subject, this study was conducted by a research team supervised by Dr. Ritha Majd Zada who works at Knowlefge Use Research Centre/ Tehran University for Medical Science, and with the participation of concerned researchers from medical colleges and research centres of different countries including Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Bahrain, Pakistan and Afghanistan supported by the regional Eastern Mediterranean office of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Research Objective:

The objective of the research is to study, evaluate, and compare the status of knowledge translation at selected medical colleges and health institutes from the Eastern Mediterranean region to detect the strength and weakness areas in this field. The research has achieved important results through its different axes.

The lecture concluded with several recommendations including:

• Universities and research institutes should pay attention to capacity development of researchers to strengthen their abilities to communicate with beneficiaries and translate the results of their research to reality.

• Providing knowledge exchange between research foundations and health authorities through the internet and provision of common ground to determine research priorities that assure the requirements of health system.

• The study concluded that there is a lack of appropriate environment for disciplines translation in the regional countries, which requires an invitation for international organizations including the World Health Organization to play a role in supporting and directing the region's countries to pay attention to translate disciplines and to put Strategies according to the needs of each state.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Dr. Ban presented her thanks and gratitude to the Dean for his continuous care about the branch activities.
