**Training Workshop on Handling Tissue Samples at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine**
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Anees Khalil Nail, and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine organized a scientific workshop entitled:
How to Deal with Pathological Biopsies
The workshop was presented by Dr. Rava Mohammed Jaafar Mohammed Saeed Al-Khatib, a faculty member from the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine. It included a detailed lecture on the scientific and laboratory procedures for handling tissue samples from the moment they are received until the processing stage.
The workshop aimed to clarify the principles of preserving tissue samples, the available alternatives for preservation methods, as well as safe transportation mechanisms, especially for infectious samples. The workshop covered the following key points:
Methods of obtaining samples and factors preventing their division
Electronic numbering and data entry mechanisms
Sample preservation using modern containers equipped with preservatives
Cutting and processing samples according to the specific requirements of each type
The workshop targeted Iraqi and Arab Board students in pathology, specialists, and faculty members in pathology and surgery, as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to enhance laboratory practices and support specialized academic training.
