Awareness Lecture on the Risks of Digital Addiction at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Anis Khalil Nail, and as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week activities, the College organized an advisory lecture entitled:

“Causes and Harms of Addiction – Digital Addiction as a Model”

The lecture, attended by a number of the College’s students, was delivered by faculty member and representative of the University Psychological Counseling Unit, Lecturer Sanaa Hindi Saleh, on 18/11/2025. The lecture presented the most prominent causes and harms of addiction and its various effects on health and behavior, with a special focus on digital addiction as a growing phenomenon that negatively affects social relationships, academic performance, and daily behavior. It also included an explanation of practical methods that help reduce addictive behaviors and promote healthy habits that contribute to building psychological and behavioral balance among students. The lecture witnessed active participation from the attending students, who raised questions and discussions regarding mechanisms to address addiction and methods of prevention.
