The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Medicine, Al-Nahrain University, organized a workshop on **the political participation of Iraqi women and their role in the 2025 elections.**
Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Anees Khalil Nail, the Women’s Affairs Unit at our college organized an awareness lecture entitled:
“The Political Participation of Iraqi Women and Their Role in the 2025 Elections.”
The lecture, delivered on Monday, October 26, 2025, by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Abdulameer Al-Harbi, highlighted the importance of participating in the upcoming sixth legislative elections of the Iraqi Parliament as a means to reform the existing political system in Iraq. The lecturer emphasized the active role of Iraqi women in political participation, whether through running for parliamentary seats or voting as citizens. The lecture also addressed the obstacles that limit women’s political participation and discussed possible effective solutions. A number of faculty members, staff, and students attended the session, which concluded with an open discussion on the significance of participation in the elections scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
