Ph.D. Dissertation Discussion on the Role of Von Willebrand Factor and Gene Expression of Selected microRNAs in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
“Determination of Von Willebrand Factor With Gene Expression of MiRs 24 320a 3p 497 5p in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infraction.”
The results showed a significant increase in mean VWF plasma levels in patients (198.74 ± 45.44 ng/ml) compared to the control group (57.01 ± 21.06 ng/ml) with P < 0.001. Moreover, there was a marked decrease in the gene expression levels of microRNA-24, miR-320a-3p, and miR-497-5p in the patient group compared to the control group, with values of 0.148 vs. 1.1, 0.84 vs. 1.1, and 0.6 vs. 1.1, respectively (P < 0.001). The findings indicated a weak negative correlation between VWF and microRNA-24, miR-320a-3p, and miR-497-5p in patients with acute myocardial infarction, as follows:
- Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was also conducted for VWF and the studied miRNAs. The results were as follows:
