Al-Nahrain College of Medicine Holds a Scientific Workshop Discussing AI-Supported Digital Drugs
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Anees Khalil Nail,
the Legal Division of the College of Medicine held a scientific workshop in the college’s main hall titled:
“The Crisis of Penal Texts in Confronting AI-Supported Digital Drugs.”
The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and college staff, and was presented by Asst. Lect. Raghdaa Raed Abdulrazzaq Al-Haddad, as part of the international partnership with the Third Scientific Conference on Drugs and Psychoactive Substances held in Libya. The workshop addressed the serious risks of using artificial intelligence technologies in the creation and promotion of so-called digital drugs — digital sound frequencies that target the human brain and affect its functions. It emphasized that the real danger lies in the deceptive marketing systems orchestrated by trafficking networks, which make it difficult to prove criminal liability due to the absence of a tangible material component. The workshop recommended the inclusion of specific legal provisions addressing digital drugs within the Iraqi Cybercrimes Law and urged the swift enactment of this law to confront emerging, specialized forms of electronic crimes.
