On Monday the 9th of March the Faculty of Medicine hosted a number of scholars from Shahid Al-Mihrab Association to lead a seminar entitled 'Piety is clear and not a burden on the youth', which was attended by the Dean and a number of professors, students and employees. Far from any political or sectarian viewpoints, the seminar focussed on advising and educating the students.

The Dean welcomed the honoured guests, and breifly explained the importance of their roles in providing educatory talks on culture, religion and Islamic ideology on how to build a successful society. They raise awareness amongst the youth who are fearful of piety, and assume that an Islamic society would prevent them from mixing and force them into reclusion.

A lecture by Engineer Wameedh al-Din al-Ghrefi followed the introduction, and it covered several aspects. The most important of these was discussing hadith that explain how the youth need to take advantage of their areas of expertise to improve society. The lecture also discussed the fear of living in a pious society, especially in light of individuals who have made religion and piety complicated to such an extent that the religion of forgiveness has become misrepresented. Sayid al-Ghrefi also spoke about women in the youth, and then explained the difference between the thoughts of the youth and the thoughts of their parents and that understanding parents is essential to achieve the satisfaction of Allah SWT.

The seminar concluded with a question and answer session between the students and Sayid Wameedh, and he clarified several topics that they previously did not understand, particularly in the medical field and communication with patients within Islamic law.

The Association presented each of Professor Alaa Ghani, Professor Abdul-Karim Hamid and Assistant Professor Taha Shawi with a Quran, and thanked them for giving them a platform to raise increase cultural and religious awareness amongst the youth. They also wished them continued success.
