Launching the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign titled **“Because You Matter”**
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine – Al-Nahrain University, and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being)—a group of medical students launched the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign under the slogan:
“Because You Matter.”
This student-led campaign has been ongoing for three consecutive years. It aims to raise women’s health awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer by distributing informational brochures to patients, visitors, and companions at the College of Medicine and Al-Imamain Al-Kadhimain (PBUH) Medical City. The campaign also guides them to breast examination clinics, where specialized doctors are available to conduct the necessary clinical checkups, and refers suspected cases for advanced testing and diagnostic procedures. This initiative reaffirms the vital role of medical students in serving the community and promoting a culture of health awareness, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals related to good health, quality education, and partnerships for the goals.
