Invited by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University participated in the 77th Annual Scientific Conference held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, from February 17 to 22, 2025. The conference saw broad participation from 56 countries, in addition to Canada and the United States, with a total of 3,287 researchers and specialists in various fields of forensic sciences. The conference was titled "Technology: A Tool for Transformation or Tyranny?" and included 40 workshops and five scientific meetings during the first three days. Additionally, the conference featured 87 exhibitions from scientific companies specializing in medical devices and forensic laboratories, as well as a book exhibition covering various forensic sciences topics. During the conference period, 337 scientific posters were presented across different forensic science disciplines.

The scientific sessions began on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, and continued for four days, during which 1,000 scientific papers were presented, distributed as follows:

  • 76 scientific sessions for the Forensic Anthropology Department.

  • 145 scientific sessions for the Criminalistics Department.

  • 32 scientific sessions for the Multimedia and Digital Forensics Department.

  • 36 scientific sessions for the Forensic Engineering Department.

  • 63 general scientific sessions.

  • 30 scientific sessions for the Criminal Law Department.

  • 39 scientific sessions for the Forensic Odontology Department.

  • 79 scientific sessions for the Forensic Pathology and Biology Department.

  • 37 scientific sessions for the Forensic Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department.

  • 26 scientific sessions for the Document Examination Department.

  • 46 scientific sessions for the Forensic Toxicology Department.

The conference events also included an invitation from the American Academy of Forensic Sciences for participants from outside the United States to attend a welcoming dinner on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel, where researchers from different countries met and exchanged ideas. On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the Annual Professional Meeting of all the Academy's divisions took place, followed by a luncheon for the Forensic Pathology and Biology Division, followed by a working meeting for the same division. The conference concluded with a closing ceremony on Friday evening, February 21, 2025.

The participation of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University in this conference reaffirms its commitment to enhancing scientific research and international collaboration in the field of forensic sciences, and its continuous efforts to keep up with technological advancements and their impact on this vital field.
