Participation of the Dean of Al-Nahrain College of Medicine in the meeting between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research …….. Media Unit

Dean of Al-Nahrain College of Medicine, and chairman of the Iraqi Deans Committee, and as a representative of all Iraqi Colleges of Medicine, participated in the meeting held at the Ministry of Health Center / Technical Director Office on Tuesday, 20/1/2015, for the purpose of coordination with the Ministry of Health to create a positive collaboration environment shared between the two ministries to serve the educational and service process. This is within the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Committee under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Scientific Research Affairs, the chairman of Iraqi Board for Medical Specialties, as a member, the General Director of Research and the General Director of the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up, and the dean of Al-Nahrain College of Medicine, (the chairman of Iraqi Colleges of Medicine Committee), and the administrator of curriculum / Studies Department.

The meeting was to provide agenda of the Coordinating Committee of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This meeting was the first between the two ministries to put the mechanism of integral coordination through broaching corresponding subjects of the two ministries alike, to conclude final solution putting in mind the priority in broaching. Different subjects has been presented by the Technical Deputy Minister at the Health Ministry, while the dean of Al-Nahrain College of Medicine offered the shared Administrative Council subject between the two ministries, and the need to activate the Third Amendment Law of the Ministry of Health No. (10)/1983, including; (In each teaching hospital, there should be an Administrative Council with a chairman represented by the General Director of the hospital and the dean of the College of Medicine as a Vice-Chairman of the Administrative Council, and the members of the Council represented by the director of the Teaching Hospital, the Heads of Scientific Branches at the College of Medicine, and the Heads of Technical Departments at the hospital.

The Dean explained the nature of the services provided by the college of medicine teaching staff members in teaching hospitals, the obstacles at work, future vision, and suggestions to upgrade of current status. He presented a detailed reading to the Committee Coordinator of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to be discussed in the following meeting which will be every month periodically.
