An Awareness Lecture at Al-Nahrain College of Medicine Highlights the Dangers of Illegal Migration

05 November 2025

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Anees Khalil Nail, and within the activities of the University Psychological Counseling Unit aimed at raising awareness among students, a counseling lecture was held entitled:

“Illegal Migration: Causes and Solutions.”

The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Thanaa Rasheed Abdulrahman, a member of the University Psychological Counseling Unit. It aimed to raise students’ awareness of the risks that young people may face when engaging in illegal migration and the negative effects it can have on individuals and society from economic, social, and psychological perspectives.

The lecture also discussed the motives driving young people to migrate, such as limited job opportunities and the desire for a better life, while emphasizing the importance of self-confidence and building a future within their own country. During the session, Dr. Thanaa urged students to act as ambassadors of awareness within their communities by promoting a culture of national belonging and encouraging their peers to remain committed to their homeland and contribute to its development, rather than seeking temporary solutions that may involve serious risks.
