HISTOPATHOLOGICAL FINDINGS IN ENDOMETRIAL BIOPSIES FOR A SAMPLE OF IRAQI WOMEN WITH ABNORMAL UTERINE BLEEDING

DOI335-d & Public Health; 23 (5): 329MeINTRODUCTIONAbnormal uterine bleeding is a common gynecological complaint(1) with a prolonged list oforganic orfunctional causes in different age groups (2).Itis defined as a bleeding pattern that is differentinduration,frequency, and amount from thepattern observed during a normal menstrual cycle orbleedingaftermenopause(3). An endometrial biopsy or curettageis a cost effective and safe diagnosticprocedure for endometriumsampling and evaluation in a patient presented with abnormal uterine bleeding (4).Histopathological examination of endometrial curettage can issue diagnosis for wide range of both normal and abnormal changes like hyperplasia, carcinoma, exogenous hormonal effects and infections and thushelping the gynecologist in patient management (5). The aim of this study is toreview the differenthistopathological diagnosis categories encountered in endometrial biopsies in patient with abnormal uterinebleeding and the frequency of each category.
