Department of Family & Community Medicine

The Department of Family and Community Medicine teaches undergraduate medical students in the third and fourth years the principles and concepts of community medicine, occupational and environmental medicine, nutrition science, and primary health care. In addition, it teaches postgraduate students in the department, both master's and doctoral, to obtain a higher degree in community medicine. The department also teaches medical statistics and scientific research methods to all postgraduate master's students in the college. Furthermore, the department teaches Iraqi Board students as it is a training center for students of the Scientific Council of Family Medicine and the Scientific Council of Community Medicine in the Iraqi Board for Medical Specialties, and supervises their theses since the establishment of the two councils until the present. The department's faculty also participate in giving lectures to Arab Board students in community medicine and supervise their theses.
