The Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine was established in our branch in 1989 as part of the College of Medicine, University of Nahrain. Since then, the department has been carrying out the following tasks:

1. Teaching undergraduate students in the third stage the subject of pathology.

2. Teaching undergraduate students in the fourth stage the subject of forensic medicine.

3. Teaching undergraduate students in the fifth stage the subject of surgical pathology.

4. Teaching undergraduate students in the fifth stage the subject of medical ethics.

5. The department also grants a master's degree in the following specializations (pathology/histopathology, pathology/hematology, pathology/forensic medicine).

6. The department also grants a doctorate degree in the following specializations (pathology/histopathology, pathology/hematology).

The department is also affiliated with both the Iraqi Board and the Arab Board of Pathology, and contributes to training students in the teaching hospital.
