Activities of the department:
Delivering theoretical lectures to undergraduate students in the fourth and fifth stages within the approved curricula and modern methods of presenting lectures and discussions that follow the guidelines of international universities.
Clinical training for the fourth grade, where the student is introduced to how to reach a diagnosis of the disease through medical history, clinical examination, and laboratory tests that aid in diagnosis. Also, clinical training for the sixth grade, where students are prepared to be future doctors by monitoring and following up patients in the wards and delivery room, attending surgeries, and benefiting from how to diagnose and treat, as well as using the skills laboratory and what it includes of devices, mannequins, and models in teaching.
Following up the educational supervision of the student to prepare him to be qualified as a doctor who meets the health requirements of Iraqi society.
Participating in professional work in the Medical City of the Two Imams, Al-Kadhimayn, attending consultations and cold surgeries, following up patient treatment, infertility and IVF consultations, and attending daily discussions and lectures given in the hospital.
Participating in conferences, workshops, and seminars in the college and other universities inside and outside the country.
Conducting scientific research, especially applied research, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate student research, participating in the scientific evaluation of research, and joint supervision with other departments on master's and doctoral theses.
Supervising the study of the obstetrics and gynecology specialty affiliated with the Iraqi Board for Medical Specialties and training students through clinical sessions, lectures, skills laboratory, and periodic evaluation.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the College of Medicine / Al-Nahrain University is affiliated with the Iraqi Board for Medical Specialties and the Arab Board for Medical Specialties. Professor Dr. Hala Abdul Qader Abdul Latif holds the position of head of the Iraqi center and supervisor in the Arab Board, and Professor Dr. Enas Adnan, head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology branch, is one of the supervisors for training Iraqi and Arab board students, in addition to the contribution of Assistant Professor Dr. Enas Thamer, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarah Abdul Redha, and Dr. Sahar Hisham as trainers for Iraqi and Arab board students.
