The chair and committee of Medical School Deaneries in Iraq denounced the criminal attacks on the Medicine and Science College of Al-Hodida University, in a meeting at the College of Medicine of Al-Wasit University on Thursday 4/6/15. Al-Hodida University is a Yemeni University that was established in 1996 in the city of Al-Hodida, on the shores of the Red Sea, 226km from the capital city, Sanaa. The College of Medicine campus was attacked by Arab air strikes 'Operation Storm of Resolve' on Wednesday 27/5/15. Four members of its security staff were killed, and the college suffered great financial losses due to the damage to the medical and pharmacy buildings, teaching equipment and lavatories.
The committee denounced this immoral attack that aims to destroy Yemeni infrastructure and targets everything that drives the Yemeni people to develop scientifically, economically and socially. The committee, in its capacity, denounces attacks on scientific centres and advises Arab universities and their medical colleges to unite to denounce these immoral attacks. Teaching centres, particularly those that produce doctors who serve humanity, should be free of discourse and political differences. Finally the committee condemns these heinous acts and supports their Yemeni brothers and the head of Al-Hodadi University and the dean of the targeted college.
