Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Professor Dr. Anis Khalil Nael, the Women's Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Legal Division of our college, organized a scientific workshop entitled:

"Criminal Accountability for Violence 

Against Women"

The workshop featured the participation of:

• Asst. Lecturer Mowj Kareem Ghasab

• Asst. Lecturer Zahraa Raad Amouri

The event took place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, and the lecturers addressed the issue of violence faced by women both within the family and in society. They emphasized that this type of violence is among the most serious and widespread human rights violations globally. Every year, thousands of women are subjected to various forms of violence, including physical, psychological, institutional, economic, domestic, sexual, and digital violence.

Given that violence has become a dangerous social phenomenon in today’s world, it calls for the urgent intervention of lawmakers to enact legislation aimed at reducing violence and the crimes that have spread throughout society, posing a threat to community security and stability. The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and staff. At the end of the session, a discussion was opened among the attendees.
