Patent for Developing an Innovative Breast Cancer Treatment Using Nanotechnology and Thyme
In a distinguished scientific achievement, Dr. Istabraq Abdulrasool Al-Wasiti, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at our college, in collaboration with national academic and healthcare institutions, has been granted an official patent issued by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control / Ministry of Planning in the Republic of Iraq. The patent recognizes a qualitative scientific innovation in the field of cancer treatment.
The patented invention involves the development of an innovative therapeutic formulation based on thyme extract, enhanced with gold and chromium nanoparticles using plasma jet technology. This approach aims to improve the effectiveness of Taxane-based chemotherapy in inhibiting the growth of MDA breast cancer cells.
This scientific achievement represents an advanced step in integrating modern technologies into medicine, combining natural sources, nanotechnology, and conventional chemotherapy to enhance treatment efficiency and reduce challenges related to cancer cell resistance.
