Al-Nahrain University College of Medicine Holds “Spring of Al-Nahrain” Festival with Distinguished Official and Academic Attendance

Under the patronage and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Anis Khalil Nayil, and with the attendance of the Assistant Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, a number of faculty members and staff, as well as Dr. Nabil Jaber Al-Anzi, Director of Al-Imamain Al-Kadhimain Medical City, the College of Medicine held the “Spring of Al-Nahrain” Festival on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the main conference hall and in the corridors and gardens of the college.

The ceremony opened with a poetic introduction presented by a group of students, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by the student Mohammed Al-Baqir (fifth stage). This was followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in memory of the late professors and students of the college, after which the Iraqi national anthem was played.

In his speech, the Dean emphasized the prestigious academic standing of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University and its leading position among medical colleges in Iraq. He highlighted the college’s commitment to developing curricula, enhancing scientific research, and supporting student activities, all of which contribute to graduating physicians with strong scientific competence and professional commitment. He also expressed his pride in Iraqi medical colleges as well-established academic institutions.

Assistant Professor Dr. Lama Karim Mohammed from the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, also delivered a speech in which she referred to the college’s achievement of first place in international accreditation among medical colleges in Iraq. She affirmed that this accomplishment reflects the integration of efforts between the administration, faculty members, and students.

The festival included poetic performances by students, a presentation highlighting the achievements of Atibba’ Al-Ghad (Doctors of Tomorrow) Journal supervised by the students, as well as various activities and booths featuring food, books, handicrafts, and recreational events.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Dean honored a number of faculty members and students in appreciation of their outstanding scientific and humanitarian efforts, in a spring-like atmosphere that reflected the spirit of cooperation and belonging within the college.
