Al-Nahrain University Wins First Place and the Cup in the Iraqi Universities' Knowledge Bank Competition

03 November 2026
Al-Nahrain University secured first place and the championship cup in the major inter-university “Knowledge Bank” Competition, organized by the Student Activities Department of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The competition was held from 25 to 29 October 2026 and hosted by the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa in the Holy Governorate of Karbala, with the participation of 58 public and private universities and colleges.

This achievement followed a series of intellectual and cultural competitions that witnessed broad participation and strong rivalry among Iraqi universities. Al-Nahrain University's team distinguished itself through its speed of response and extensive knowledge across various scientific and humanities disciplines, ultimately securing first place ahead of all other participating universities.

Students from the College of Medicine played a prominent role in achieving this victory. The university team included three medical students out of the four students representing each competitive stage, namely:

  • Ahmed Haider – Third Year

  • Mustafa Hameed – Third Year

  • Aminullah Khalid – Third Year

The eight universities that secured the top positions, in order, were: Al-Nahrain University, Tikrit University, Al-Mustaqbal University, Nineveh University, Sumer University, Imam Ja'far Al-Sadiq University, Al-Sibtain University, and University of Anbar.

The closing ceremony featured the presentation of cups and shields of appreciation to the winning universities in recognition of the participants' outstanding performance and intellectual excellence.

This achievement reaffirms the commitment of the Deanship of Al-Nahrain University College of Medicine, headed by Prof. Dr. Anis Khalil Nayel, to supporting extracurricular student activities and scientific and cultural competitions, given their important role in developing students' abilities, broadening their intellectual horizons, fostering creativity and positive competition, and promoting academic excellence.
