College of Medicine, Al-Nahrain University Receives World Health Organization Delegation to Discuss Future Cooperation

The College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University received a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) in Iraq, headed by Dr. Jameela Al-Raabi, to discuss prospects for mutual cooperation and establish the preliminary framework for a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties. The delegation was welcomed by Professor Dr. Anis Khalil Nayel, Dean of the College of Medicine; Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Al-Mousawi, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs; Assistant Professor Dr. Mithaq Hassan, Head of the Department of Family and Community Medicine; Assistant Professor Dr. Lama Karim, Head of the Quality Assurance Unit; and Lecturer Dr. Haneen Hussein, Head of the Cultural Relations Division.

The meeting addressed opportunities for strengthening collaboration in the fields of scientific research, curriculum development, capacity building, and support for activities related to public health and sustainability. Discussions also covered several future initiatives and projects aimed at advancing medical education, supporting academic accreditation pathways, and enhancing the college’s role in serving the community.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining communication and coordination to develop an implementation plan and finalize a Memorandum of Understanding that will contribute to achieving shared objectives and advancing the standards of medical education and public health in Iraq in accordance with international best practices.
