The Second Workshop in the Student Workshops and Peer Education Series: Building Effective Teams

As part of the activities of the Medical Education and Curriculum Development Unit / Students’ Committee at the College of Medicine – Al-Nahrain University, and as a continuation of the series of online workshops delivered by students to their peers based on the principle of peer education, the second workshop, entitled “Peer Education: Building Effective Teams Workshop,” was held on Tuesday evening, August 11, 2026, for 60 minutes.

The workshop was presented by students Rania Ihsan Nouri and Taiba Abdul Aziz Abdul Hamid, in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Bassam Mohammed Hamid. It witnessed notable participation from a number of students from both within and outside the College of Medicine, reflecting the growing interest in this training series and its practical topics designed to meet students’ needs.

The workshop addressed several key areas aimed at strengthening teamwork and leadership skills, including:

  • The difference between a group and a team, and the dynamics of teamwork.
  • The Tuckman model of team development stages.
  • Effective communication skills within a team.
  • Leadership, task delegation, and promoting accountability.
  • Conflict management and decision-making.

This workshop is part of a series of training programs conducted by the College’s students with the aim of developing personal and leadership skills and fostering a culture of peer education. It also reflects the active role of the College of Medicine students in sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences, while promoting a collaborative learning environment whose benefits extend to students from different colleges and universities.
