Al-Nahrain University College of Medicine Holds Medical Oath Ceremony
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, Professor Dr. (Anis Khalil Nayel), and in the presence of the Assistant Deans, Heads of Scientific Branches (Members of the College Council), as well as the Director of Al-Imamain Al-Kadhimain Medical City, Dr. (Nabil Jaber Al-Anzi), and a number of graduates’ families, the College of Medicine held the Medical Oath Ceremony for the graduates of the academic year 2024–2025 (Excellence and Creativity Class).
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by sixth-year student (Sajjad Abdulaziz), followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in honor of the souls of Iraq’s martyrs, and then the Iraqi national anthem was played.
Afterwards, the Dean of the College delivered a speech highlighting the humanitarian nature and distinctiveness of the medical profession, emphasizing the high level of ethical and professional commitment it requires, as well as the responsibility toward patients and society. He also praised the active role of the scientific branches and the efforts of the teaching staff in developing the curricula, which contributed to achieving an outstanding level of academic excellence. He further stressed the importance of continuous learning and the acquisition of professional skills.
The ceremony also featured a speech by the top-ranked graduate of the class, (Shahab Sajid Hameed), who expressed gratitude and appreciation to the College Deanship and faculty members for their continuous support, and acknowledged the vital role of her family throughout her academic journey.
This was followed by the Medical Oath recitation, where the graduates repeated the oath after the Dean in an atmosphere filled with pride and honor. Gifts were then presented to the top three students of the college by the Dean, followed by honoring the top students in each scientific branch by their respective heads. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to students with distinguished graduation research projects in clinical branches.
The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handover of the flag from the graduating students to the representative of the sixth-year class, signifying the continuity of giving and the academic journey within the college.
