Workshop on modern methods of writing multiple-choice questions

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine - Al-Nahrain University Prof. Alaa Ghani Hussain the Curriculum Development Team at the College held a workshop on modern methods of writing multiple-choice questions  on26/2017/12. The lecture were delivered by Dr. Haidwe Abdul Hamid Rashid.

During the workshop, many aspects related to  examinations and the specificities of examinationsin in medical schools were discussed.  The recommendations of the workshop were as follows:

  • The process of writing questions should be based on a clinical cases in all branches of science and be based on the extraction and conclusion and the testing of skills and behaviors and not only retrieving information and to experience important facts  away from the surface knowledge

  • Setting a blueprint for each exam for the purpose of ensuring fairness in class distribution on all subjects and on all aspects of knowledge

  • Forming a higher committee to monitor and ensure the quality of the questions and their conformity with the objectives of the outputs of the educational process

  • The process of writing test questions is based on scientific principles and conforms to international standards and in clear language to the student

  • Students in medical schools should be trained in the modern teaching methods of medical education, and an annual training course should be held for teachers, especially the new ones, as well as the requirements of teaching in the Faculty of Medicine.

The representative of the  Pfizer company pharmasist  Mustafa Alaa deliver a lecture deals with the relationship of risk factors with heart disease and how to prevent them.
