Gynecology and Obstetrics Branch was founded in 1987.
This branch serves many duties including:
Giving theoretical lectures to students of primary studies for the fourth and fifth stages within the approved curricula and methods of presenting lectures and modern discussions that keep pace with the guidelines in international universities.
Clinical training for the fourth grade, where the student is introduced to how to reach a diagnosis of the disease through the medical history, clinical examination, and pathological analyzes that assist in the diagnosis. As well as clinical training for the sixth grade, where students are prepared to be doctors of the future by observing and following up patients in the halls and maternity hall, attending operations and benefiting from how to diagnose and treat, as well as using the skills laboratory and what it includes of devices, dolls and models in teaching.
Follow up the educational supervision of the student in order to prepare him to be qualified as a doctor who meets the health requirements of the Iraqi society.
Participation in professional work in the two holy imams medical city, attending consultations and operations, following up on patients' treatment, attending daily discussions and lectures that are given in the hospital.
Participation in conferences, workshops, seminars and training courses in the college and other universities inside and outside the country.
Conducting scientific research, especially applied ones, supervising the research of primary and postgraduate students, participating in the scientific evaluation of research, and joint supervision with other departments of master's and doctoral dissertations.
Training and supervising the study of obstetrics and gynecology, affiliated to the Iraqi and Arab Council for Medical Specialization, and training students through clinical sessions, lectures, skills lab, and periodic evaluation.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the College of Medicine / Al-Nahrain University is linked to the Iraqi Council for Medical Specializations and the Arab Council for Medical Specializations. Hala Abdel-Qader Abdel-Latif, head of the Iraqi Center and supervisor at the Arab Council, and Professor Dr. Enas Adnan, the head of the women's branch, as one of the supervisors for training Iraqi and Arab board students, in addition to the contribution of Assistant Professor Dr. Enas Thamer, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarah Abdel-Reda and Dr. Sahar Hisham as trainers for Iraqi and Arab board students.
