
On Thursday, May 13, 2024, the doctoral dissertation defense for Rahma Hamed Kasar was completed at 9:00 AM in the discussion hall of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The dissertation was titled: "Association of Serum Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Its Receptor Tyrosine Kinase B (TrKB), and BDNF Genotype with the Severity of Type 2 Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy in a Sample of Patients from Kirkuk City/Iraq." Study Objective: The current study aims to explore the potential relationship between the levels of BDNF protein in the blood, the polymorphism of the human BDNF rs6265 gene, among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, with and without diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and to compare them with healthy individuals in Kirkuk City, Iraq.
The dissertation was successfully accepted with distinction.
