The University Sports Unit is one of the important units in all universities affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, especially after the recent directives from the supervisory and scientific evaluation bodies, as it participates with college students in sports activities determined by the University Sports Department in the University Presidency, which is based on the schedule of sports tournaments for the two semesters, which is decided by the University Sports Federation in the Ministry of Higher Education, so that the sports tournaments in which students participate and the results they obtain have become part of the performance evaluation of colleges and universities alike by the Ministry. In addition, it reduces the psychological pressure on students as a result of studying on the one hand and through sports participation and getting to know each other among students, whether within the university colleges or within other universities, as it contributes to students practicing extracurricular activities. Students who win external sports tournaments participate, whether at the local, Arab or foreign levels for universities.

As for the University Sports Unit for the College of Medicine, it consists of two members, Dr. Salman Ali Hassan, Director of the Unit, and Games Coach: Nidaa Lafta Juma (currently on leave for a full year), which prompted Dr. Salman Ali Hassan to manage this unit alone for the academic year 2013-2014 AD and through participation in sports championships that were approved by the meetings of the University Sports Department at the university and the draws and lotteries and in the presence of the directors of the sports units in the colleges, the unit participated in the following sports championships for the first and second semesters

1- Chess Championship

2- Badminton Championship

3- Futsal Championship

4- Table Tennis Championship

5- Volleyball Championship

The College of Medicine team within the University Sports Unit won first place in the chess championship in addition to hosting it by the college and organizing it by the University Sports Unit in the college. It also won third place in the university badminton championship and fourth place in the table tennis championship at the university level and fifth place in the Futsal Championship. Currently, the College of Medicine team has qualified for the volleyball event for the final match, which will be held next week in a final celebration for the university held by the University Sports Department and under the direct supervision of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs. In the event that the College of Medicine volleyball team wins First place: The ranking of the University Sports Unit in our college at the level of the university colleges will be the first place at the university this year as a result of achieving the largest number of points in the championships that it won and participated in, and according to the scoring that was approved in the technical meeting held in the University Sports Department at the University Presidency and in the presence of the Department Director and the gentlemen directors of the University Sports Units in all colleges.
