Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine - University of Nahrain Professor Dr. Alaa Ghani Hussain . Dr. Nizar Mahmoud - a member of the faculty in the branch of internal medicine delivered a seminar on the understanding of the influenza virus on 21/1/2018. The seminar reviewed multiple types of influenza viruses prevailing in the current season including H1N1 A and H3N2 A type B Yamakata, Victoria and type C. It also explained how the global epidemic happens , and how the genetic transformation of viruses started , which make animal viruses capable of infecting humans as it happens in 2009. The history of H1N1 virus has been reviewed since 1917 when it was the main cause of killing of 20 and 50 Million people around the world and repeated epidemics of the same virus in 1957 and 1968 to the present time. The lecture was covered by the debate of the rolling vaccine for influenza . the smart immunity of the body, and fight against this virus which mutated genetically. This transformation leads to infect people multiple times confusing the immune system. In the end of the lecture (Cold disease ) was mentioned and a simple comparison of this virus with the flu virus.
