On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the master's thesis defense of Haneen Alaa Ahmed from the Department of Pharmacology was completed. Her thesis, titled *"Effects of Azilsartan and Amygdalin in Cyclophosphamide-Induced Infertility in Male Rats,"* aimed to evaluate the effects of Azilsartan and Amygdalin on male infertility induced by Cyclophosphamide in rats. The study demonstrated that both drugs significantly (P≤0.05) improved testicular index and semen analysis, with no significant difference between the two. Regarding histopathological features, both drugs statistically significantly (P≤0.0001) mitigated the harmful effects of Cyclophosphamide, with no significant difference between the two (P≥0.05). Hormonal level assessments showed a noticeable improvement in serum levels of LH, FSH, and testosterone in both treatment groups. The study also found that Azilsartan significantly reduced oxidative stress markers (MDA and AOPP) and improved GPx levels, while Amygdalin showed similar effects with highly significant antioxidant improvements (P≤0.0001). The defense committee comprised: - Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rahma Ali (Chair) - Prof. Dr. Ban Jumaa Qasim (Member) - Prof. Dr. Gaith Ali Jassim (Member) - Assist. Prof. Dr. Fouad Kazem Kadhim (Member and Supervisor) The thesis was accepted with distinction.
